Empowering health through lifestyle: the science behind movement, nutrition, hydration, and mindfulness

HealthGame was born out of the conviction that lifestyle matters and has a huge impact on our health. Dozens of studies every year prove that physical activity, healthy unprocessed food, and managing stress are powerful tools in curing and preventing various diseases, yet our society gets more sick and weak.

Physical Activity

Physical activity is the root of health and disease prevention.

  • A study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology evaluated 17 high-quality studies with almost 227,000 participants. It found that taking at least 3,900 steps per day was linked to significantly lower risks of dying from any cause. Each additional 1,000 steps per day was associated with a 15% decreased risk of dying.
  • Sixty minutes per week of resistance training decreases all-cause mortality risk by 27% according to study published in American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
  • A meta-analysis study reported that runners have a 25% to 40% reduced risk of premature mortality.

It’s undeniable that we need to move on a daily basis for optimal health and longer life.

Nutrition

At HealthGame, we believe that the quality of food is as important as the quantity of food.

  • A meta-analysis published in The British Medical Journal found that high consumption of ultra-processed foods was associated with a 21% higher risk of all-cause mortality compared to the lowest consumption.
  • Ultra-processed foods not only shorten our life but also drastically reduce our life quality.

However, we are not robots, and it’s really hard to always avoid all unhealthy food and drinks. That’s why we developed an algorithm that, when followed, reduces consumption of unhealthy food to much less than 20%. This should hugely improve one’s health when combined with physical activity while giving the freedom to let go from time to time. Everybody needs a break!

Hydration

Water is important too. A study by the American National Institutes of Health found that good hydration is linked to longevity. Adults who stay well-hydrated appear to be healthier, develop fewer chronic conditions such as heart and lung disease, and live longer compared to those who do not get sufficient fluids. That’s why we included water tracking in our approach.

Stress Management and Hormonal Optimization

Lastly, our scientifically proven routines will help you manage stress and optimize hormones.

  • Morning sunlight helps regulate the circadian rhythm, which is the body's internal clock that dictates sleep-wake cycles and other physiological processes. Exposure to natural light in the morning helps reset this clock, promoting better sleep at night. Exposure to evening sunlight strengthens this process even more.
  • Morning cold exposure (shower, bath, etc.) will increase your body temperature and prepare you for all the challenges of the day. In the evening, hot exposure will decrease your body’s temperature, signaling that it’s time to sleep.
  • A study published in Scientific Reports found that gratitude meditation significantly lowered heart rate, modulated functional connectivity in brain regions associated with emotion and motivation, suggesting improvements in emotion regulation and self-motivation.
  • Positive affirmations have been shown to improve psychological well-being by promoting a positive mindset and reducing negative self-talk. This can lead to improved mood, reduced anxiety, and enhanced overall mental health.

HealthGame is here for you to help you create a consistent habit of selected routines. Just pick the ones that are the most convenient and try to do them regularly (we really recommend including morning sun exposure).
